Notice Of City Council Vacancy And Intent To Fill

This is formal notice that the Moroni City Council will fill a City Council vacancy caused by the resignation of Darrel Bagley effective May 20, 2024.  The City Council intends to appoint a replacement at a public meeting to be held on June 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Moroni City Community Center.  This will be an open meeting and the public and media are welcome to attend.

Per Utah Code 20A-1-510, this notice is posted until Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Moroni City Community Center, on the city web site and the Utah Public Notice website inviting all interested and qualified persons to apply.

To be considered for this vacancy, you must file an application with the Moroni City Recorder, during normal office hours Monday – Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 80 South 200 West.  Interested persons who meet the following qualifications will be interviewed in a public meeting to be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, starting at 7:00 p.m.:

  1. The person is a U.S. Citizen.
  2. The person is a registered voter.
  3. The person is a resident within the municipality of Moroni City for a period of 12 consecutive months.
  4. The person maintains a principal place of residence within Moroni City and will maintain this residence during their term of office.
  5. The person is mentally competent.  Not convicted of a felony, convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise, unless their right to hold elective office has been restored.

Interested persons may pick up an application from the Moroni City Recorder, at the Moroni City Community Center located at 80 South 200 West, Moroni, Utah 84646 during normal business hours, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The application and any other related documents must be completed and physically received by the City Recorder no later than 12:00 p.m. MST on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.  All documents submitted are public record.

The term of the vacancy is through December 31, 2025.
